My gear:
I'm a Nikon shooter all the way. This year, I bit the bullet and made the big switch to Nikon’s Z series mirrorless. I replaced my full frame D850 with the Z6ii and the crop sensor D500 with the Z50. There's a bit of a learning curve in making the switch, but the image quality, ease of use, and reduced weight really make the switch worth the trouble. Overall, I reduced the weight of my camera bag from over 30 pounds to about 17 - much appreciated by my aging shoulders.
I started out with the Nikon trinity:
• NIKKOR Z14-24mm f/2.8G S
• NIKKOR Z24-70mm f/2.8G S
• NIKKOR Z70-200mm f/2.8G S
To extend my range, especially for wildlife, I added Nikon's NIKKOR 100-400mm f4.5-/5.6E VR S. When I need additional range, I couple this with the Z Teleconverter TC-2.0X. For a lightweight general purpose lens, I picked up the affordable NIKKOR 24-200 f/4-5.3 VR.
Lastly, to pair with the Z50 for a really lightweight package, I added the NIKKOR Z DX 16-50 f3.5-6.3. VR and the NIKKOR Z DX 50-250 f4.5-6.3 VR.
iBecause it allows me to shoot in RAW format, I carry the Nikon P6000 as my pocket camera when the D7000 is just more than I want to carry.
